Description
ALIXIR Stone Protector is a high-performance, water-based impregnating treatment for protecting natural stone, concrete and porous surfaces without altering their appearance. Once applied, it penetrates the substrate to provide long-lasting resistance to staining, weathering and oil or water-borne contaminants while remaining fully vapour permeable.
Once the surface is treated, ALIXIR Stone Protector facilitates easier cleaning and maintenance, while providing protection against stains and weathering including food and drink staining, fuel and oil spillages, mild acidic and alkaline cleaners, de-icing salts, pollution build-up and general dirt contaminants. It also helps protect against biological growth such as algae, moss and lichen, reduces the impact of freeze-thaw cycles, limits efflorescence and assists with the removal of chewing gum, graffiti and bird fouling.
ALIXIR Stone Protector maintains the original appearance of the surface and does not affect the slip resistance. Suitable for both facades and ground surfaces, with performance durability of up to 15 years on vertical applications and 5 years on horizontal applications.
How
it works
ALIXIR StoneProtector's short chain, dual hybrid perfluorinated polymer technology is highly water-repellent, creating a breathable barrier that protects the surface without altering its natural colour. By lining the pores and capillaries within the fabric of the surface, contaminants remain on the surface, allowing simple cleaning to remove stains that would otherwise be difficult to clean off.

Application Instructions
Always test a small hidden area before use. Shake container well before use. Ensure the substrate is clean, dry and free from dust, dirt, oil, efflorescence, organic growth and any coatings and damages repaired. Apply using a low-pressure sprayer, brush or roller ensuring the surface is evenly saturated, working from bottom to top on vertical surfaces and avoiding runs. Apply further coats until the surface is fully saturated - minimum two coats. Subsequent applications must be applied “wet on wet” within 10 minutes. Do not apply over non-absorbent surfaces. Substrate and ambient temperatures should be between +5°C and +30°C, with a maximum substrate moisture of 5%.

Aqueous fluoropolymer dispersion. Invisible once dry. Vapour permeable (Sd value: 0.03). Non-hazardous, non-toxic water borne product. Solvent and silicone-free. Fully biodegradable. VOC content: 0gm/L. UV-resistant. Colour: Pale Straw. Odour: Mild, soapy. Density: 1.0kg/Litre @ 25°C. Consistency: Low viscosity liquid. LC 50 > 10,000. Combustibility: Non-combustible. Chemical resistance: Dilute acids & alkalis, de-icing salts, water.
Coverage Rate
"Coverage depends on substrate porosity. Guidence per coat:
Limestone: 4-6 m²/litre
Sandstone: 6-8 m²/litre
Granite: 8-16 m²/litre
Marble: 10-13 m²/litre
Terracotta: 5-7 m²/litre
Concrete: 6-8 m²/litre
Surfaces must be treated to saturation “wet on wet” for full efficiency. Always trial a small area to confirm true consumption."
Equipment Cleaning
Clean tools and equipment immediately after use with water.
Storage & Shelf Life
Store in a dry place, away from frost and heat, in a temperature between 5°C and 30°C. Shelf life is 24 months from the production batch date when kept in the original unopened container.
Recommendations & Curing
Do not apply if rain is expected within 4 hours. Water repellence is evident after initial curing but may take up to 7 days to reach 100% efficiency. Notes: The technical data provided is based on laboratory tests and some variations may occur on large areas and unknown substrates. Do not allow the applied product to dry during the ‘wet-on-wet’ application process. Do not apply during rain or frost,or when surface and air temperature is <5°C and >50°C.
